Description
Soya Chaap is mock meat or vegan meat made with soya beans and wheat flour. The soya meat is wrapped around wooden sticks to give a vegetarian leg-piece-like appearance. Hence, the name soya chaap.
Across North India, the soya sticks are creatively used to make various vegetarian dishes. The reason for their popularity is the chicken-like texture and the ability to absorb the flavor of the curry. In addition, the soya meat adds a great variety to the vegetarian menu.
These Soya Sticks can be used in the place of meat and chicken in almost any dish.
Example Recipe:
- To make soya chap curry, first heat the oil in a pan. Then put soya chapstick in it. Fry them till they become light brown. Take out the soya chapsticks after frying and now add the paste of bay leaves, cumin, and onion to the remaining oil.
- After frying a little, add salt and turmeric to it. Mix them well and add ginger garlic paste, coriander powder, cumin powder, and red chili powder. Mix all the spices well and add water to it.
- Now add tomato paste and cook the gravy on low heat. Mix garam masala with green coriander and kasuri methi.
- After mixing them well, add cream and mix once again. Now add the fried soya chap sticks and cook for a while. Garnish with cream and serve hot.
